Gate Automation Designer School (GADS) formerly known as Automated Gate Systems Designer School (AGSD) will now be offered in Tampa, Florida, December 3-4, as AFA brings its quality education to you.
Automated gates are a popular form of convenience and security for homeowners, businesses and property managers throughout the United States. Especially today, with an elevated concern for safety and security, many seek the added protection of limiting access to property while enabling residents, employees and other authorized individuals to easily enter and leave the property without delay.
This school is for individuals who design automated vehicular gate systems for either residential or commercial customers. It is also recommended for sales professionals in the automated gate industry.

Anyone who designs automated vehicular gates is encouraged to attend this two-day school, which covers:

At the conclusion of this school, attendees have the optional opportunity to sit for the Certified Gate Automation Designer (CGAD) certification examination administered by the Accreditation & Certification Institute (ACI). This requires a separate registration and fee. This application is available at www.acieducation.org.
When can I attend GADS?
Gate Automation Designer School will be offered in Tampa, Florida, on December 3 and 4, 2020.
Class will meet over the following schedule:
- Thursday, December 3, 2020: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday, December 4, 2020: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Lunch is included in your registration fee and will be served both days 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.
Are you looking to take a certification exam from ACI (see above) or AFA? Certification exams will be offered Friday, December 4: 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM, after lunch.

IN CONSIDERATION OF THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND AFA UNIVERSITY AND BY SUBMITTING YOUR REGISTRATION, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND AGREED TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS (“Terms and Conditions”):
You understand that if you wish to cancel your registration, you must contact AFA via email at firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm cancellation. Cancellation notices received prior to November 18, 2020 will receive a 100% refund minus a $50 cancellation fee that AFA will retain. You understand that if you choose to cancel after November 18, 2020, you will not receive a refund.
If AFA University is cancelled, your registration fees will be refunded 100%.
AFA EVENT CODE OF CONDUCT
AFA is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all meeting participants and AFA staff. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, AFA staff members, service providers, and all others are expected to abide by the AFA Event Code of Conduct.
PHOTO AND VIDEO RELEASE
By registering for and attending AFA University, you grant permission to the AFA to (i) record your image, likeness, and/or voice on a photographic, video, audio, digital, electronic, or any other medium, (ii) use, reproduce, modify, exhibit and/or distribute any such recording, in whole or in part, in any manner or medium now known or hereafter developed (including without limitation, print publications, DVDs and internet) for any purpose that AFA may deem appropriate, including without limitation promotional or advertising efforts; and (iii) use your name and biographical material in connection with any such recordings or uses. You understand and agree that your image may be edited, copied, exhibited, published or distributed and waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein your likeness appears. You understand that AFA will be the owner of all such recordings and uses. Additionally, you waive any right to royalties or compensation arising from or related to the use of my image or recording. There is no time limit on the validity of this release nor is there any geographic limitation on where these materials may be distributed.
CREDIT CARD INFORMATION
If you provide your credit card information, you understand and acknowledge that your credit card information, if applicable, will be used by the AFA to process the fee(s) described on the Payment page.
DISCLAIMER AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither the AFA nor any of its directors, employees or other representatives will be liable for any of the following losses or damage (howsoever arising and whether such losses were foreseeable or not): loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business or opportunity, loss of reputation or goodwill, and/or any indirect, consequential or special loss; whether arising in connection with AFA University or the provision of our services to you.
INDEMNIFICATION AND RELEASE
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the AFA and its officers, directors, employees, agents, suppliers, vendors, agencies, guests, and attendees from and against any and all demands, claims, fines, investigations, penalties, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees and court costs) (collectively, “Claims”) relating to your failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions and your participation in AFA University including but not limited to any Claims arising in any manner out of your contracting COVID-19 or any similar illness. Further, for yourself and your heirs, personal representatives and assigns, you hereby release, relinquish and discharge the AFA and its predecessors, successors, assigns, legal representatives, and its former, present and future agents, officers, directors and employees from any liability resulting from the negligence of the AFA or any of the foregoing parties.
I represent and warrant that I will not enter the Venue or participate in AFA University if (a) I am aware, as of the date of AFA University, that I have contracted and not completely recovered from COVID-19 or another communicable disease; (b) I am aware, as of the date of AFA University, that I have been exposed within the prior two weeks to someone who had contracted or was subsequently determined to have contracted, COVID-19 or another communicable disease; (c) I have been tested for COVID-19 or another communicable disease but not yet received the results of such test; or (d) I have symptoms consistent with having contracted COVID-19 or another communicable disease. I also represent and warrant that, during the course of the AFA University, I will comply with all applicable regulations and guidelines regarding COVID-19 and any other communicable disease, including those imposed by the Venue and/or AFA.
AFA reserves the right to change, amend, add, or remove any of the above Terms & Conditions in its sole discretion and without prior notice. If one or more of the conditions outlined in these Terms & Conditions should become invalid, the remaining conditions will continue to be valid and apply. These Terms & Conditions apply to all event participants (attendees, guests, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors).
AFA reserves the right, due to unforeseen circumstances, to alter the content, location, timetable, speakers, venue, and/or other technical or administrative details in respect to AFA University. The AFA will endeavor to provide you with notice of any such alterations.
The views expressed by any event attendee, guest, speaker, exhibitor, or sponsor are not necessarily those of AFA. All attendees, guests, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors are solely responsible for the content of all individual or corporate presentations, marketing collateral, and/or advertising.
These terms and conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of, or in connection with them or their subject matter, shall be subject to laws of Texas, exclusive of the choice of law rule or any jurisdiction.
AFA Event Code of Conduct
The American Fence Association (“AFA”) is dedicated to a pleasant event experience for all attendees. All participants, including but not limited to AFA staff, speakers, officers, directors, committee chairs and members, other volunteers, sponsors and other attendees, are expected to adhere to this Event Code of Conduct (“Code of Conduct”). This Code of Conduct applies to all AFA events, including without limitation FENCETECH and related conferences, and all meetings of the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, committees and membership as well as Chapters.
WHO MAY ATTEND?
AFA National and Chapter events are designed for fence, deck and railing industry professionals and open to registered participants only. AFA and its chapters reserve the right to determine eligibility of any participant to attend the event. AFA may, in its sole discretion, determine that certain participants are ineligible to attend due to a potential conflict of interest and/or the questionable nature of their products and/or services.
Events are open to registered participants only. Name badges are required for entrance to all functions of FENCETECH and AFA University.
CAMERAS & CELL PHONES
Cell phone, still or video photography at all events is strictly PROHIBITED unless otherwise approved or authorized in writing by AFA staff or leadership. This action will result in immediate expulsion from the event. No cell phones may be used during seminars or speaking portions of the events. All participants will be asked to turn them off as a courtesy to our speakers and others attending.
Casual attire is acceptable at any AFA National or Chapter event unless otherwise noted.
Smoking is not allowed in event locations unless otherwise noted.
AFA sets the bar of professionalism in the fence, deck and railing industry, as set forth in AFA’s Business and Ethical Practices. All participants will be held to this professional standard. Participants will not be allowed to promote other competing organizations or use the AFA sponsored event as an opportunity to disparage or otherwise damage the reputation and integrity of AFA, its leadership, its members and the products/services they make, sell and install.
MEETINGS, EXHIBITS & SOLICITATION
Only registered exhibitors for any AFA National or Chapter event may promote their product or services. NON-exhibiting companies are PROHIBITED from distributing sales & marketing materials and/or attempting to sell products/services not being exhibited inside the event. This action will result in immediate expulsion from the event. All materials will be confiscated and destroyed.
AFA has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, including but not limited to sexual harassment, by participants at AFA events. This includes:
– Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any form.
– Physical or verbal abuse of any attendee, AFA staff member, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, hosting event staff, or other meeting guest.
– Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to, comments (including jokes) related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion or national origin, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations, or deliberate intimidation, unwanted photography/recording, threatening, or stalking of any attendee, AFA staff member, speaker, volunteer, sponsor, hosting event staff or other meeting guest.
ENFORCEMENT AND REPORTING
1. Participants who are asked to cease any behavior(s) contrary to this Code of Conduct are expected to comply immediately.
2. AFA reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary, including immediate removal from the event without warning or refund, in response to any incident of behavior deemed inappropriate under this Code of Conduct; the AFA reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future meeting by any individual found to have acted in violation of this Code of Conduct.
3. Persons experiencing harassment or hearing of any incidents of unacceptable behavior in violation of this Code of Conduct are asked to contact an AFA staff member and ask for either AFA’s President or the AFA’s Executive Director, so that appropriate action can be taken.
4. AFA has no power whatever to prevent any person accused of unlawful or improper behavior who believes such action has caused him or her legal harm from instituting legal action against the person he or she believes has caused the harm.
