CFC — Certified Fence Contractor
- Fee: $250
- CEUs: 15
- CEU Focus: Fence, business, or gate automation/access control
CGAD — Certified Gate Automation Designer
- Fee: $150
- CEUs: 12
- CEU Focus: Gate automation/access control
CGAT — Certified Gate Automation Technician
- Fee: $150
- CEUs: 12
- CEU Focus: Gate automation/access control
COM — Certified Operations Manager
- Fee: $150
- CEUs: 12
- CEU Focus: Fence, business, or gate automation/access control

You can check your current certification status and expiration date anytime through your MyAFA Online Portal. Simply log in to your account to view your credentials and renewal timeline.

How to Renew
1. Earn your Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
Complete your required CEUs (12-15 depending on certification) through approved or relevant learning experiences.
Pro tip: You can (and should!) add CEUs to your AFA profile as you earn them - no need to wait until your renewal window. This makes renewal fast and stress free. Click here for a how-to guide.
2. Submit your renewal application online.
Complete your renewal through the MyAFA Online Portal.
3. Pay your renewal fee.
Fees are listed above and are due at the time of submission.
4. Receive your updated digital badge.
Once approved, your Credly digital badge will automatically update and can be accessed through your existing profile.

- AFA Education Opportunities:
- AFAU Online:
- AFA Approved Education Providers:
- Manufacturer or Supplier Training:
- Training and education from manufacturers are eligible - even if they're not AFA-approved providers.
- Other Eligible Education:
- Any fence, gate automation, access control, or business-related training may qualify.
- Teaching or Instructing:
- You may claim up to 5 instructional hours per renewal cycle if you serve as an instructor.
Note: Hours spent viewing exhibits are not eligible for CEU credit.

Grace Period and Lapsed Certifications
If your certification expires, you have a 90-day grace period to complete your renewal. After this period, your certification will be revoked, and you'll need to reapply and retest to regain your credential.
